Toy Poodles are one of the varieties of the breed developed in Germany. Standard, Miniature and Toy Poodles differ chiefly in size. The Toy Poodle is the smallest one. It stands no higher than 10 inches at the shoulder and weighs about 12 lbs. (5 kg). The main function of the breed is a companion. The dog is intelligent and people-oriented.

The Toy Poodle is a double-coated dog. Its undercoat is soft and cottony. Hence, it tends to mat and need a lot of brushing. It is necessary to clip the Toy Poodle in one of the accepted ways: the Continental or the English saddle. The color pattern varies from black, blue and brown to apricot and white.
